Lendl Simmons Slams First 100 of IPL 7 as Mumbai Indians beat Kings XI Punjab by 7 wickets

Lendl Simmons smashed a 61-ball 100 to set the platform for Mumbai Indians' crucial win over Kings XI Punjab.

Mumbai Indians' recent gamble of roping in a late addition in the form of the West Indian Lendl Simmons has worked wonders for them. In a must-win game against the Kings XI Punjab, the big-hitting opener slammed the first century of the tournament, eclipsing the 'Glenn Maxwell Show' that has produced three scores in the 90s. He raced to his hundred off 61 balls, including 14 fours and 2 sixes. Chasing a challenging total of 157 on a green-top Mohali wicket, Simmons remained unbeaten on 100 as Mumbai thrashed Punjab by seven wickets to stay in hunt for a place in the playoffs.

Reputed for packing a punch, Simmons began the flurry in the very first over with three boundaries of Sandeep Sharma on either side of the wicket. He repeated that in Beuran Hendricks' second over with three more boundaries while his batting partner Michael Hussey silently enjoyed the onslaught from the best seat in the house.

Eden Hazard to PSG for £50m? : transfer rumours

Eden HazardEarlier this year, at a time when Manchester United were desperately trying to convince supporters that they were not run by people frazzled by the magnitude of their responsibilities, Wayne Rooney was presented with a monstrous new contract. It was shrewd work by the player’s agent. Reports at the time even claimed that the club agreed to give Rooney a say in all future transfer activity but the Mill does not believe that: for would Louis Van Gaal really have accepted the job of Manchester United manager if he was told that he had to run his recruitment policy past Rooney? And if Rooney really did have a significant input, would the Daily Mail be telling us this morning that United’s next signing is to be Mario Mandzukic, a striker currently serving an international ban for kicking an opponent in the knick-knacks? Ah.
