Lendl Simmons Slams First 100 of IPL 7 as Mumbai Indians beat Kings XI Punjab by 7 wickets

Lendl Simmons smashed a 61-ball 100 to set the platform for Mumbai Indians' crucial win over Kings XI Punjab.

Mumbai Indians' recent gamble of roping in a late addition in the form of the West Indian Lendl Simmons has worked wonders for them. In a must-win game against the Kings XI Punjab, the big-hitting opener slammed the first century of the tournament, eclipsing the 'Glenn Maxwell Show' that has produced three scores in the 90s. He raced to his hundred off 61 balls, including 14 fours and 2 sixes. Chasing a challenging total of 157 on a green-top Mohali wicket, Simmons remained unbeaten on 100 as Mumbai thrashed Punjab by seven wickets to stay in hunt for a place in the playoffs.

Reputed for packing a punch, Simmons began the flurry in the very first over with three boundaries of Sandeep Sharma on either side of the wicket. He repeated that in Beuran Hendricks' second over with three more boundaries while his batting partner Michael Hussey silently enjoyed the onslaught from the best seat in the house.

IPL : KKR beat CSK by 8 wickets

Kolkata:  Kolkata Knight Riders took a giant stride towards ensuring a play-off berth as they defeated Chennai Super Kings by eight wickets to take their winning streak to five matches in the Indian Premier League 2014.
Robin Uthappa got his seventh successive 40 plus score in the championship as his 39-ball-67 enabled the home team to chase down a tricky target of 155 with ease as it turned out to be a worthwhile wait for the supporters present at the Eden Gardens.

Eden Hazard to PSG for £50m? : transfer rumours

Eden HazardEarlier this year, at a time when Manchester United were desperately trying to convince supporters that they were not run by people frazzled by the magnitude of their responsibilities, Wayne Rooney was presented with a monstrous new contract. It was shrewd work by the player’s agent. Reports at the time even claimed that the club agreed to give Rooney a say in all future transfer activity but the Mill does not believe that: for would Louis Van Gaal really have accepted the job of Manchester United manager if he was told that he had to run his recruitment policy past Rooney? And if Rooney really did have a significant input, would the Daily Mail be telling us this morning that United’s next signing is to be Mario Mandzukic, a striker currently serving an international ban for kicking an opponent in the knick-knacks? Ah.

Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 7 wickets

IPL 7 Live Cricket Score, SRH vs RCB: Rejuvenated RCB face inconsistent SRH. (BCCI/IPL)A clinical performance by the Sunrisers Hyderabad top-order ensured a seven- wicket victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore which kept them in the hunt for the Play-offs in the seventh edition of the Indian Premier League in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

Luis Suárez to Real Madrid for £70m? : Football transfer rumours

Luis SuárezIt turns out that Luis Suárez wasn't crying when he pulled his shirt over his head during that match against Crystal Palace, he was secretly communicating with Real Madrid. That blighter! After all that redemption. Liverpool fans won't be so fond of him now that he's off to sunny Spain for a cool £70m and they'll be even more worried if Luis Alberto and Iago Aspas are also allowed to leave Anfield. It's all falling apart! It's all starting to slip!
Madrid plan to fund a move for Suárez, who famously made everyone forget his previous bad behaviour by doing some goals, by selling Karim Benzema. Having worked out that Olivier Giroud, Yaya Sanogo and Nicklas Bendtner aren't quite the standard required at the highest level, Arsenal are interested and while they're at it in Spain, they'll also look to bring Real Sociedad's Carlos Vela back with them.

UEFA fine Manchester City 60m euros

The club owned by Sheikh Mansour snatched the Premier League title last weekend but will have to curb their spending in the transfer market for the next two seasons and freeze their wage structure in order to escape further punishment.
French champions Paris St Germain, who were charged with similar breaches, have been hit with the same punishment.
Should the clubs successfully fulfil the operational and financial measures agreed with the UEFA Club Financial Control Body, they will be able to reclaim 40m euros of the fine and have the squad restriction lifted in time for the 2015/2016 Champions League.

IPL 7: RCB emerge victorious in low-scoring thriller against CSK

RCB's AB de Villiers played a useful cameo to guide his team towards victory against CSK in their IPL7 contest in Ranchi on Sunday, (IPL/BCCI) Royal Challengers Bangalore made a stunning late flourish after initial struggle with AB de Villiers playing a cameo of 14-ball 28 to pull off a five-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings in a thrilling IPL match in Ranchi on Sunday.
Chasing 139 for a win, Bangalore found the going tough with the Chennai slow bowlers seemingly tying them into knots in the first half of their innings before exploding towards the end to overhaul the target with one ball to spare in a low-scoring match that went down the wire.

Mario Mandzukic to Chelsea?:Transfer rumours

Mario MandzukicVarious clubs are eager to relieve apparent football club MK Dons of their best player – though unlike the manner in which they relieved Wimbledon of its actual football club, any deal is likely to be consensual. Dele Alli is 18, and as well as being a sonically delicious half-rhyme, is also a midfielder. His style of play has been compared with that of Steven Gerrard – though whether or not this represents a compliment is unclear, his proficiency in ostentatious nonsense-barking, going again and not letting things slip still to be determined. Interested in signing him are Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool.

Suarez not worthy : Mourinho

http://du8znpjowa92.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Jose-Mourinho-001-1.jpgChelsea boss Jose Mourinho believes Edin Dzeko, and not Luis Suarez, should have been the Premier League's player of the season.
Mourinho has been a regular critic of the Liverpool striker, who won the PFA and Football Writers' Association awards, dubbing him as the king of penalties and describing him as an "acrobatic swimming pool" diver.
And now Mourinho has stated his belief that the player of the year should be either Suarez's Anfield team-mate Steven Gerrard or Manchester City striker Dzeko, who has scored some vital goals in his side's end-of-season run.
